Senior Class 2025

Congratulations to the Whitefield Academy Graduating Class of 2025!

Commencement will be held Friday May 16, 2025

7-9pm at Colonial Presbyterian Church on Wornall Road

Jacob C.

Jacob began at Whitefield in Kindergarten and participated rowing, basketball, choir, Shakespeare and many other electives.

"I really appreciate the faculty. They truly love us and want to help and get to know us more. They ask a lot of us and lead by example, and I respect them immensely."

"I have had many great classes, but my 10th grade Bible class will stick with me for a long time as a model for good biblical discussion. It was the kind of class that made me exited to go to, and I loved every moment of that class."

"I also was impacted by my math classes. I liked math a little bit, and was good at it, but our teacher's obvious love of God and math, her incredibly effective teaching style, and the way she’s pushed me and the other students made an enormous impact on me."

He plans to attend Cedarville University to study Mathematics.

Senior Thesis Presentation: May 8th, 1:35pm - Why Modern Baseball is Benefited by Statistics.

This thesis will help explain how statistics and sabermetrics have greatly improved baseball and brought it into the modern era.

Daniel D.

Daniel began at Whitefield in 5th Grade and participated in soccer, rowing, debate, basketball, and Shakespeare.

"Junior year chemistry had a big impact on me because I walked out of that class discovering my enjoyment of the subject which led to my decision to study it in college."

"All of the teachers that have taught or engaged with me over the years have made some sort of impact on me. One that stands out to me is that which Mr. Laney has had on me. He has shown what it looks like to rejoice in the Lord and the true meaning of putting all your trust and hope in him. His simple joy in the word of God, even when he could have lived a different life, is inspirational and motivational in my walk with the Lord."

"I am very proud of my time in debate. I believe it has given me a great opportunity to use many of the skills I have been taught in my time at Whitefield in a fun and competitive way."

He plans to attend Wichita State to study Chemistry.

Senior Thesis Presentation: May 14th, 1:35pm - The Dangers of Equal Treatment : Why Equality of Condition is not Universally Beneficial in Education.

Exploring gender differences in learning styles and why complete equality of condition can be detrimental to some students.

Natalie J.

Natalie began at Whitefield in Pre-Kindergarten and participated in yearbook, spirit club, StuCo, choir, basketball, volleyball, rowing, soccer, Shakespeare, debate, and WHS.

"I love Whitefield because of the community within it. I can be friends with a seventh grader as easily as I can a Junior. I love that the teachers pour into all of us daily and share the same goal, of bringing us closer to Christ. Within Whitefield, I have found so many role models."

"One of my favorite classes was Biology. Our teacher's love for how God created the world instilled in me a similar desire.  I also loved 10th grade Bible because it made me think differently about God and I began to enjoy thinking deeply."

"I am so proud of my theses. They are the culmination of my education here and I put so much work into it. I can see how things that I learned in third grade helped me argue and write better and what was once incredibly difficult then flows so easily now."

"I feel ready to leave this place because the teachers have set such a wonderful example of how to live in adulthood for the glory of the Lord."

She plans to attend Biola.

Senior Thesis Presentation: May 13th, 1:35pm - A Thesis Walks Into a Bar: Why Humor Must Be Included in Spoken Rhetoric.

This thesis will explore why humor is necessary in any oration due to its persuasiveness and beneficial effects.

Jacob K.

Jacob began at Whitefield in Kindergarten and participated in basketball, soccer, golf, volleyball, and rowing.

"I really appreciated the size of Whitefield because I was able to get to know everyone really well. The teachers are amazing because of the way they showed me how to live in a Christ-like manner."

"I particularly enjoyed dissecting things in Biology and my favorite upper school memories are our class trips to Oklahoma City and Costa Rica. They were a ton of fun and I grew closer to my classmates."

"I am proud of the way that both the soccer and basketball seasons went this year. Our teams were built into some of the best I've ever played on, and we were able to go far in the leagues."

He plans to attend Colorado Christian University to study Business.

Senior Thesis Presentation: May 13th, 1:35pm - Why Restrictive Gun Control is not only Unconstitutional But Harmful 

This thesis will explore the interpretation of the second amendment and show how detrimental it would be to completely remove guns from American citizens. 

Mary T.

Mary began at Whitefield in 9th Grade and participated in art, yearbook, Shakespeare, volleyball, and soccer.

"Whitefield teachers have high expectations for us, but they also care about us personally. I love how students of all ages and personalities build relationships with each other."

"I enjoyed reading and discussing Great Books in Humanities. My favorite class has been 10th grade Bible, where we got to read Augustine. I also had fun spending time with the girls on the volleyball team every fall."

"I'd encourage younger students to be adventurous. There are so many great opportunities to try different experiences and learn from teachers about different subjects that you won't have anywhere else."

She plans to attend John Brown University to study Marketing Communications.

Senior Thesis Presentation: May 13th, 1:35pm - Equity in Name Only:A Critical Review of Title IX's Effectiveness in Addressing Gender Disparities in Collegiate Athletics

This thesis will explore why Title IX has not brought equality to college athletics. 

Vivian W.

Vivian began at Whitefield in Kindergarten and participated in soccer, spirit club, debate, WHS, volleyball, Shakespeare, worship team, and choir.

"Whitefield is one of the most uplifting environments I have ever been in. I feel enormously blessed to have been part of it! By far some of my fondest Upper School memories are the retreats. They are always so edifying, and truly help me recenter my heart on Christ."

"Our junior year civics and political philosophy class definitely made an impact on me. Learning about the philosophies behind different political systems across history really shaped my perception of the world in a unique way. We read Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith and it's now one of my favorite books."

"The experience I gained the most from was writing and giving my junior homily. Having to expound upon a passage of Scripture and teach on it in front of my teachers and peers was not easy, but it was rewarding."

She plans to attend Grove City College to study English.

Senior Thesis Presentation: May 8th, 1:35pm - Emptying the Mind or Filling it with Truth?: A Biblical Perspective on Contemplative Prayer and Christian Meditation

This thesis will explore why Christian meditation and contemplative prayer are unbiblical practices that stem from Eastern religions and, therefore, should not be practiced by Christians.

Jack W.

Jack began at Whitefield in 9th Grade and participated in basketball, soccer, golf, student council as treasurer and secretary, and ran sound for Shakespeare. 

"My favorite class was Sophomore Bible because we could switch between joking around to talking about serious topics and having impactful discussions."

"The teachers here have always been real with me and have been supportive. You can tell that they just truly care. I have so many good memories but many from trips week. It's an awesome opportunity to bond with my class and learn new things at museums and in different cultures and cities."

"I'm most proud of the "brotherhood" group that we started to pray together. I hope we are leaving an example that the younger whitefield men can continue and make each other better."

He plans to attend Colorado State University.
