Library

A love of reading is at the center of classical learning.

The Whitefield library exists to build godly character, wisdom, and virtue by providing abundant choices of excellent literature and giving students an appetite for great books and a lifetime of joy through reading.

Kinder Prep through 6th grade students have weekly library time to listen to stories and select books to read at home or for book reports.  The collection is thoughtfully curated by librarian Mrs. Kris Guensche so that students have access to a wide range of quality books.

Lexile System

Lexile Scale

In addition to the Dewey Decimal system, books in the library are coded to represent their Lexile reading level.  This enables students to easily select books that match their assessed reading ability.

Student Aides

Girls Shelving Books

6th grade students can elect to be library aides, helping Mrs. Guensche shelve books.  6th graders also write inscriptions in their favorite books for younger students to read!

Annual Book Fair

Each November, Eighth Day Books brings Whitefield a high quality selection of books for students and parents to purchase. This is a highlight event for many students!

Reading Buddies

Reading buddies

Weekly Kinder/5th grade and 1st/6th grade reading buddies promote multi-grade interaction and inspire emerging readers to continue growing in their skills.

The Kaufman Collection

Donated in 2015 by Mr. and Mrs. Kaufman, the Whitefield library is home to an extensive collection of beautiful works of literature. 7th - 12th grade students may check these books out to read and enjoy!
