Head of School
Head of School Welcome - Dr. Matthew McIntosh
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Whitefield Academy. I am privileged to serve as Head of School for a school that I love. Whitefield is a special place with a special mission that has meant so much to my family and to a generation of graduates. With Christ at the center of all we do, we seek to educate the entire student, head and heart, to equip our graduates with the intellectual skills to pursue things true, good, and beautiful and winsomely point others do the same.
Dr. McIntosh has been at Whitefield Academy for 24 years in various capacities including teaching Bible, Greek, Hebrew, Humanities, Composition, and Logic. He has also coached soccer and served as Athletic Director. Dr. McIntosh has a B.A. in Religion and Christian Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, a Masters in Theological Studies from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Theology from the University of Manchester in England. He and his wife Amy are the proud parents of four Whitefield graduates and two twin grandbabies!
Whitefield Academy is a beautiful place where a love of learning and a desire for God are realized in a culture of grace. We are blessed with incredible educators who love the Lord, mentor their students, and truly partner with parents to equip students for lifelong learning.
Academic Deans
Meet Our Academic Deans
Mr. Derek Metcalf - Upper School Dean
Mr. Metcalf has been a member of the Whitefield community for 11 years. Before moving into administration, he taught Classical Greek and Humanities. He has a B.A. in Humanities from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Hebrew from Southwestern Baptist Theological in North Carolina. He and his wife Katie have three children at Whitefield.
We embrace a wholistic vision of education that seeks to form the entire person, intellectually, socially, and morally, as a knowing, believing, relating, feeling, doing, loving and worshipping being created in the image of God.
Mr. Jason Chace - Lower School Dean
In his 12th year at Whitefield, Mr. Chace has a B.S. in Education from Kansas State University. He taught in the Shawnee Mission School district and also many years at Whitefield in 4th grade, Pre-Algebra, Progym, and Spanish. He and his wife Keely are the proud parents of two Whitefield graduates.
We are a community working together to rediscover classical liberal arts education, leading us on a different path than both the local public and Christian schools in town.
Mrs. Katie Theiss - Assistant Dean
Mrs. Theiss has a B.S. in Secondary Education from Kansas State University and a Masters in Special Education from the University of Kansas. After teaching in the public schools for five years, she has been with Whitefield for 12 years teaching in both Kindergarten and Upper School. She and her husband Matt have three daughters at Whitefield.
I love the community of people we have here. I am grateful to work with so many amazing believers, many of whom know, love, and pour into my own children. I am honored to walk beside Whitefield students through their academic careers.

The mission of Whitefield Academy's PTF is to promote interaction, communication and cooperation among parents and teachers in order to provide for excellence in the spiritual, mental, social, and physical development of our students. PTF works to support teachers and build community among families, all in the interest of supporting students.
Parents are invited to get involved with one of our PTF teams! PTF class coordinators welcome new families and facilitate communication within their grade. The appreciation team encourages teachers and staff during the year with various appreciation activities. The care team celebrates and cares for faculty, staff, and students who experience a milestone life event or health related event. The used uniform sale team coordinates donations and sales for families to shop throughout the year.
